To tie in with the 2021 International Women’s Day theme ‘Choose to challenge’, we had a delightful chat with local female entrepreneurs about how they’ve turned their passion projects in to real businesses. Our guests were Briana, owner of Craft a Little Love; and Ruth, designer and co-owner of Life of Fish.
We discussed whether there were differences between female and male entrepreneurs; heard about the inspiration behind their businesses; and enjoyed fascinating stories of the realities of entrepreneur life. Interestingly, in contrast to the many sad stories of businesses struggling during the pandemic, Ruth and Briana had both found new customers and opportunities to grow.
#ChooseToChallenge asks us to work collectively to help create an inclusive world. We need to choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality; as well as choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. At the Tooting WI we love to celebrate female achievement, and these local entrepreneurs inspired us with their passion and determination to succeed!
